MarsCorp Part 5 Is Out

To support the MarsCorp terraforming mission we must join hands (figuratively. Do not touch other human capital during work hours) and work together, combining our unique abilities in order to become greater than the sum of our parts. The most important partnership exists between the main MarsCorp base and the mining outpost, where raw materials are extracted from the planet for use in the terraforming mission – and for the contractual production of vast quantities of Ultra-Ade energy drinks.

Having won the respect of the Martians (well, most of them) during the MYIP festivities, Hob is given a new task by the base manager; to renew the cooperation agreement with the Ultra-Ade mine. This means winning the respect of the mine’s strange manager/despot, Jonathan Kingsley. In an attempt to give Hob’s visit some gravitas, Martin insists David, Dave, Tom and Eric accompany her and Jim to the outpost.

Meanwhile, back at the base, Martin makes a startling discovery about the Resource department’s plans, and everyone gets very sick.

MarsCorp passed the 16,000 download mark this week. Kind of an arbitrary mark, but that’s where it’s at at the time of writing (1pm on Tuesday, since you ask) so that’s the info you’re getting. The show’s doing ok, but downloads have slowed a bit. What we really need now is for people to help get the show out there. The easiest way you can do that is by simply leaving a rating (and a review if you want) on iTunes or wherever you got the podcast from – those little stars really do help the show! Another way is to share the show on social media (or IRL social interactions I guess).

You can also support the show and get a lovely piece of merchandise by buying an official MarsCorp mug! Professionally printed and capable of holding liquids, they’re great!

You can get yours now for just £7 in the MarsCorp shop. And we ship internationally!

Early Release Access

As you might have heard, we’ve made the remaining episodes available for early access. What this means is you can get all the remaining episodes in the series, today – right now! – and all it costs is a one-off payment of £2.99 ($3.99)! We don’t make a lot of (i.e. almost no) money off advertising, so this is our main way to try and raise some funds from the series to help us make more stuff in the future.

If you want to get the episodes early simply download the Acast app, search for MarsCorp and purchase the season pass – acast.com

If you don’t want to purchase them though you’ll still be able to listen to the rest of series as we’ll be releasing episodes for free every Wednesday as planned.

Episode 6 – Appropriate Working Relationships – is out next Wednesday (or right now if you buy the series!)

Message About Early Access

Attention everyone! You might have heard an ad for early access to the rest of the series this morning. It was our intention to make episodes 5 to 12 available to purchase for early access. However, due to a technical problem beyond our control (i.e. this isn’t our fault!) we’re not actually able to make the episodes available today!

damn disappointed

Us: right now.

The cat’s out of the bag though (who keeps a cat in a bag? Someone who understands surprises, that’s who!); the series is fully finished. We hope we’ll still be able to offer early access soon, but we can’t say for sure when that might be. We’ll let you know as soon as possible!

Oh, and for anyone who doesn’t want to pay for the episodes (or just enjoys listening to one episode a week like a time traveller from 1997), the remaining episodes will still be released for free every Wednesday.

For now though, you can enjoy Part 4 – Annual Leave.

MarsCorp Part 4 Is Out

An important part of working well is not working at all. It can be hard to separate yourself from your fulfilling professional duties, but occasionally (very, VERY occasionally) a few days off can be good for you. Taking time to mix with the rest of the human capital at MarsCorp in a relaxed and fun environment should make you more productive when you swiftly return to your job. Please enjoy your Annual Leave.

After a few months on MarsCorp, Part 4 sees Hob more relaxed with the Martians and even starting to enjoy getting stuck into the nitty gritty of work at the base, especially as it provides a welcome distraction from some painful memories of Earth. So MYIP (the Martian Youth Intern Programme) – which sees all work cease on the base – is a massive pain the arse for her. This inconvenience is made worse when Hob finds out she actually has to participate in MYIP in order to advance the terraforming mission, and in doing so she has her first proper dealing with the Resources department, and starts to understand just what they’re all about.

We hope you’re enjoying MarsCorp so far, and if you are, please (please!) take a minute or two to leave a rating, or even better; share it on Facebook/Twitter. To accurately quote Blanche Dubois from A Streetcar Named Desire: “We’ve always depended on the internet kindness of cyber strangers.”

Another way for you to support the show – and get a taste of what it’s like to be an actual piece of the MarsCorp human capital – is to buy a mug! Professionally printed and capable of holding liquids, they’re great!

MarsCorp Part 3 Is Out

Any successful enterprise must be built on a solid foundation of people. Their minds, bodies and souls are what lie beneath the company and, like soil they, feed it, allowing it to grow and prosper. To ensure you extract maximum utility out of human capital you need make sure management is very effective at one thing – team building.

Part 3 of MarsCorp sees Hob finally get a chance to journey to the heart of the MarsCorp mission, the place where the terraforming mission is developed and advanced – the World Factory. But base manager Martin Mann warns her against getting too excited about the visit; the terraformers who run the factory have something of a reputation. Undeterred Hob rounds up a team to visit the site and assess progress, but soon finds that something very odd is going on at this vital outpost.

Meanwhile, back at the main MarsCorp base, Martin puts a new food initiative into effect, which creates a special opportunity for one particular Martian.

Downloads are picking up gradually and we’re still getting some really great feedback too, so thank you to everyone who’s listened, shared, rated, liked, evangelised about the show. Some people say completing a project is its own reward – those people are goddamned fools. Validation from people on the internet is the real reward.

Speaking of validation, MarsCorp is currently featured at the top of the UK iTunes store (and maybe in Australia and New Zealand? I can’t remember which regions the editor covers), which is very neat.

Neat.

Please keep spreading the word and leave a review/rating if you haven’t already, it really helps the show reach more people and makes us feel better about ourselves!

Another way you can support the show is by purchasing some sweet official MarsCorp merchandise! We now have the much coveted MarsCorp standard issue employee mug (as distributed by the Resources department) available to buy. They’re £7 each and we post internationally. MarsCorp Part 2 Is Out

Yup, another Wednesday means another episode of MarsCorp. This week it’s ‘Health and Safety’:

Hob’s been on Mars for a few weeks now, which have given her a chance to get to grips with things and see how the project to terraform the planet is doing. What she finds is… it’s not good. Determined to turn things around she realises she needs to get the Martians on her side so tries to get them involved by asking what they think needs to be done to fix the base. And what they suggest is a surprise to Hob.

We also learn a bit more about head of technology, Tom Dalling, and his unusual family situation.

MarsCorp Episode 1 - Welcome / Introduction artwork

We have new artwork for every episode, which has been done by the superb Eric Chow (check out his stuff at http://www.ericchow.co.uk/).

It might be a touch early to start leaving reviews on iTunes (and the others) just yet, but if you really like the first episode that much, we’re not going to stop you 😬 The reviews actually really, really help the show reach more people, so those little stars are a big boost.

We hope you like episode 1 – episode 2 ‘Health and Safety’ is out next Wednesday (August 3). Make sure you subscribe with your podcast provider to make sure you get it as soon as it’s out.

Until next time,

To MarsCorp!

The MarsCorp Employee Quiz!

The MarsCorp terraforming colony is at the cutting edge of human technological and scientific operations. As such a cutting edge recruitment programme needed to be designed to ensure that the human capital running the base is perfectly suited to its various tasks.

Using experts in the fields of psychology, human resources, social media and spelling we created this highly detailed and thorough questionnaire to efficiently and accurately determine which department all workers will be best suited to serving.

Take the questionnaire now and find out how you can best contribute to the MarsCorp terraforming mission!

MarsCorp Episode 1 is out Wednesday 27 July! Subscribe now on iTunes or your podcast provider by searching MarsCorp. You can also now follow us on Acast where you’ll be able to see the effin’ great artwork that we’ve got for the episodes.

It’s been a long time coming but the show is nearly out – just two weeks away.

To get episode one as soon as it’s released on July 27 you can subscribe now on iTunes, follow us on Acast or get the RSS feed direct.

We’ve got a couple more bits to pique your curiosity over the next couple of weeks, so make sure you follow us on Facebook and Twitter for the latest updates.

MarsCorp Release Date

For what feels like the first time in a long time we’re able to write an update with good news; MarsCorp has a release date!

‘MarsCorp – Part 1: Welcome/Introduction’ will be released on Wednesday July 27. You’ll be able to download or stream it for free on iTunes and Acast, or you can get it directly from our RSS feed.

Are you panicking that you might miss it? That you might have an attack of podcast-specific amnesia and forgot this vital information you’ve just read? Well fear not, we have considered this (high unlikely) situation and have put the show feed online already, so you can subscribe now (like RIGHT NOW) which will allow you to automatically get new episodes as soon as they’re released every Wednesday.

“Wow, 27 July!” you say “But that’s like 3 weeks away, that’s way too long. I’m going to see if I can be put into an induced coma until then so I don’t have to deal with all that insufferable anticipation.”

Wait! We’ve also considered people might do that and so are planning to reveal some more things between now and 27th which will tell you a bit more about the show and get you hype as fuck for it and might even make it worth staying conscious for.

One other thing we’ve updated today is the cast and crew list. MarsCorp has been one hell of an undertaking that has seen dozens of people contribute their time and talent. You’ll soon get to enjoy their work once the episodes are released, but for now you can look at their names – the names of heroes (easy now).

If you’re new to MarsCorp you might want to like the MarsCorp Facebook page and follow us on Twitter so you can get the latest news on the show as well as whatever other shite we decide to post.

Also and finally, we have started a new outfit called Definitely Human, which we’re grouping MarsCorp, The Bunker podcast and Gorilla Film Online under. Follow @notnothuman on Twitter for serious, formal updates of our work and no fun ever.

To MarsCorp!

MarsCorp Lift Off

Hello! So glad you were able to make it. Was the journey ok? No? Oh well, sit down, make yourself comfortable, because you’re here now, you’re at the MarsCorp podcast website.

This cavern of knowledge should tell you everything you want to know about our new podcast. The editing of the show is coming along well and we expect we’ll be able to release episode one in a few weeks. In the meantime we’ll gradually be adding more sections and content to this site, including trailers, artwork, ways to support MarsCorp and eventually a shop.

The first trailer for the series will likely be released on iTunes (and other podcast services) in the next couple of weeks, at which point you’ll be able to subscribe to the show so you’ll have the episodes as soon as they’re released. But to get the latest MarsCorp updates you should follow us on Twitter and Facebook.

Looking for something to tide you over until the new show is out? Then how about checking out our old show, The Bunker, a 12-part comedy set in the post-apocalypse.

Until next time, To MarsCorp!
